Studying Holdem Hand Values

The specific Holdem hand values under study here are 7-8 suited or AJ off suit. Different cases are considered and the concomitant results.

The first case is, all the players fold and we're first to act from the button. In this case Aj is the obvious choice. It proves to perform well in shorthand pots. Now, let's say there are 5 limping players and in this case we are the button. In an online play, AJ is the favorite option. It has been noted that an AJ Holdem hand yields higher probabilities of winning the pot online than suited 7-8.

In actual poker gambling winning players do not necessarily take all the pots. If every poker hand is played successfully then obviously we'd be taking in a lot more pots. If we play every hand possible we need lots more cash. On the other hand, when we see a player successful at playing various hands, we should sit left of the player to make sure the player's turn doesn't bother us. If possible (and a better alternative) strike a deal with this player on percentage pot sharing. We give each $10 per win.

A suited 7-8 hand performs well with 6 to 7 people at the table, with consideration of whether the small blind would call. Such Holdem hand may depend largely on draws, and that means strong odds for drawing. Should the flop turn out straight draw inside and we're in late position, a turn of flush draw or straight draw open-ended may be a good position to raise the flop. This is especially so if the bet is from early position. The worse scenario here is we miss our draw on the turn. When we are checked we take a free card and on the turn hit our draw. Thus, the raise on the flop funded a heftier pot.

Admittedly an AJ hand often does not perform well when there are too many players at the table. AJ tends to make us flop double pairs, a straight, or luckily a full house at times. Flops of A77 are not a flop of two pairs. Flops of a pair are usually a jack, which is not really a high pair. KJ or QJ flop is fine.

Against 7 opponents playing this hand makes the pot hard to spread evenly in a top pair flop. Thus, Holdem hand values, specifically 7 to 8 suited and AJ unsuited in this study, fit an appropriate poker game situation and condition.
